Engineers, Mathematicians and Scientists

M. J. Roberts, Signals and Systems, pp. 125:

“Engineers are educated by learning mathematics (differential calculus, complex variables, vectors, differential equations, etc.) and science (physics, chemistry, biology, etc.). This education is important because an engineer uses mathematical theories and tools developed by mathematicians and applies them to knowledge of the physical world that has been discovered by scientists to design things that do something useful for society.”
